WAR là danh từ, có nghĩa là một tình huống mà trong đó hai nước hay hai nhóm người chiến đấu chống lại nhau qua một khoảng thời gian – CHIẾN TRANH. WAR cũng có nghĩa là một nỗ lực, một cuộc đấu tranh trong một khoảng thời gian dài nhằm xóa bỏ cái gì đó không tốt. Ví dụ, WAR AGAINST CRIMES là cuộc chiến đấu chống lại tội ác.

‘France is at war’, French President Francois Hollande said after deadly terrorist attacks in Paris that killed at least 129 people. In response, the French air force is bombing ISIS targets in Syria while authorities are conducting anti-terror raids. One of the raids in a Paris suburb last week resulted in the killing of the suspected mastermind of the Paris attack, 28-year Belgian citizen Abdelhamid Abaaoud. French Parliament, meanwhile, voted to extend the country’s state of emergency for another three months.

Thousands of migrants headed to Western Europe became stranded at border crossings, as Balkan countries started to return those coming from countries not affected by war. Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia are allowing refugees and migrants from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq to cross their borders while others from Asia and Africa who are considered economic migrants are being stopped. What is now the greatest migration of people on the European continent since World War Two has deeply divided the 28-nation EU, and fueled anti-immigration sentiment across the continent.

Finally, Bosnia and Herzegovina marked the 20th anniversary of the Dayton Agreement, the peace agreement that put an end to the 3-and-a-half-year war in Bosnia which killed more than 100,000 people. The agreement was reached at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio in November 1995 and was signed by presidents of Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia.
