DETENTION là danh từ, có nghĩa là tình trạng bị giữ ở một nơi, đặc biệt là nhà tù, và bị ngăn chặn rời đi. Nó xuất phát từ động từ DETAIN có nghĩa là giam giữ tạm thời, câu lưu. Người bị giam giữ tạm thời, câu lưu là DETAINEE.

He and his assistant Nguyen Thi Minh Thguy are accused of “abusing democratic freedoms” and could get up to seven years in jail.
Finally, to Greece where major international aid agencies boycott migrant detention centers in protest at an EU-Turkey deal they say runs against human rights. Under the deal hundreds of new arrivals from Turkey to Greece have been detained for fast-tracking registration and asylum applications. Those refugees or migrants who fail will be sent back to Turkey. Agencies say that cooperating with the Greek detention centers would make them complicit to a practice that they say is “unfair and inhumane”.
